Armistace day november 11th 2009 Erdington Birmingham B24 repaired and renailed down loose pitch pine floor boards, made wood fillets to fill gaps,sanding two lounge floors made into one room, stained with jacobean oak stain and then applied three coats of bonakemi mega satin seal. comment from customer. sandy hytton. i am more than pleased with my floor, i didnt believe you could make it look so good.i need a few weeks to recover, because of having many jobs done all at once.but i want you to come back in a few weeks time and work on my three bedroom floors as well.

Birmingham flooring have been involved with the timber flooring trade for over 30 years. Our fitters have been working with wooden flooring for over 25 years. Our sanding and sealing operatives have been working in the trade for in excess of 20 years. As such we can offer a high quality job with the minimum of fuss or upheaval to the customer. After so much experience in the trade our fitters are capable of solving any problems that may arise, giving the customer peace of mind that their floor will be completed to our high standards.

Birmingham flooring can sand and seal any type of wooden floors, be it wood blocks, parquet panels, mosaics, strip floor, or floorboards . On arriving at the job our sanding team will judge what is required for the task ahead . If the flooring is old and distressed then we may have to start the operation with a coarse grade paper such as 24grit , this will then remove any old seal, and flatten down the floor making it possible to reach low spots with other grades of sanding paper. Once the floor has been roughed off, we then work our way through several grades of paper starting with 40grit, 60grit, 80grit, 120grit and finally a 150grit . These papers bring the floor up to a fine finish where we can then apply the first coat of lacquer.

After the first coat is dry we then run a fine pad over the floor to remove any grain that has been raised due to the application of seal. Once the floor has been cleaned of any dust we then apply two final coats of seal to finish the job.

Birmingham flooring finish their sanded floors in a number of ways to suit the customer , whet her it be water born lacquer, commercial grade varnishes, oleo resin based varnishes, hard wax oils, or polyurethane varnishes . These finishes are available in matt , satin , and gloss dependant on the customers criteria.

One of our commercial jobs that we have carried out was the ukranian catholic cathederal in central london.This floor was aproximatly 250m of old pitch pine blocks and reasonablly new yew blocks set into sections in the floor, the yew blocks had been fitted in the late 60s due to flooding. On arrival on site we set about working machines with 24grit paper to remove the old oleo-resin based varnish and to flatten the floor which was quite uneven.

The floor was roughed off over a period of 3 days, and all the edges were cleaned up with edging machines. On the fourth day we started sanding down the floor with finer grades of paper until, on the 5th day we were ready to fine sand.

After leaving site for 4 days so the builders could weight test the new chandelier's, we returned and commenced fine sanding.

Once the floor was sanded to a fine finish we applied a coat of commercial grade laquer. after drying we buffed off the floor to remove any raised grain and applied the last two coats of laquer.
